Excel 2010 implements sparklines, “intense, simple, word-sized graphics”, as their inventor Edward Tufte describes them in his book Beautiful Evidence.

This innovation is accomplished using MCE (Markup Compatibility and Extensibility).

nice and simple – how about adding these next to your portfolio view – showing delta in price over a defined period of time

Nice – I love Spark Lines, and I’m looking forward to buying Beautiful Evidence book.

I’d also recommend The Visual Display of Quantitative Information by Tufte.
