<p>Jean Paoli, co-creator of Xml, presented the story on Microsoft&rsquo;s interoperability effort. Covering 4 key tenants: Products, Collaboration, Developer Resources and Standards Bodies. </p>
<p>For Microsoft&#8217;s big main products they </p>
<ul>
<li>Have documented protocols, more than 80K pages</li>
<li>Work with more than 150 standards organizations</li>
<li>Sit down every six months for two days and talk with IBM, Red Hat, Apache etc. Having frank open non-marketing conversations about interoperability</li>
</ul>

<p>Microsoft says they see big opportunities in the operability space. Perhaps another chance to embrace and extend.</p>
